Christmas Decoration Ideas
Christmas upon us and with a year that will be like no other, we need to fill our homes with as much joy as possible. There is nothing better than sipping on mulled wine and eating a mince pie in front of a Christmas film whilst it is cold outside. So you need to make sure you deck your halls with a beautiful Christmas house decor that makes you feel warm inside.
I've pulled together my failsafe Christmas decoration ideas that will fill any home with much needed Christmas joy. From Christmas wreaths to greet your guests on arrival to tablescapes that are just rather a bit special. These Christmas decoration ideas are to inspire you to use in your own home this Christmas and I hope you find delight in creating a stunning Christmas house decor as much as I did.
The Centrepiece
The centrepiece, the pièce de résistance – the Christmas tree! My partner always loves to have a real tree for the smell... I get agitated about the mess and extra effort after the big day, but life is about compromise right?! My top tip for decorating the tree is to keep the baubles tonal to your interior, I've gone for a mix of bronzes, burnt orange, white and gold to really pick out the colours in our room. I always have a wrapping theme so the presents under the tree add to the overall look in the room. I even bought new stockings this year which finish off the area just perfectly. To create a really warm, cosy and inviting space, we have our White Company winter candle burning constantly, filling the room with scents of spicy cinnamon and zesty orange. For the final touch – add the pooch... but you may not be able to get one of those in time for Christmas now!
Tablescape
When it comes to Christmas decoration ideas, I think the tablescape might possibly be my favourite one. Every year I do something different as it doesn't take a lot to create something fresh and new. This year, I've gone for an elegant, country farmhouse style. I created this tablescape with a beautiful white table runner, layered with a green garland, pinecones, tall candlesticks and peppered with tea-light holders. I added a silver leaf, fairy light garland on top just to give the table a more sophisticated feel rather than rustic. I finished off the place settings with beautiful wicker placemats, topped with simple white napkins, cutlery and a tasteful cracker. With the tablescape, it's all about creating layers of interest and texture to really bring it to life, focus on elongating the table but also ensuring it is practical to converse.
Handmade wreaths
By no means least, the door wreath. Your door wreath sets the expectation to your guests of what Christmas delight lies behind the door. With a beautiful wreath to greet your guests when they arrive, they will instantly feel festive. Christmas is all about creating a feeling and an experience so why not start it from before your guests even step a foot inside your Christmas grotto? I made my own wreath this year with the help of a local business. The business – Rose and Rhubarb Flowers – usually do an in-person wreath making workshop every year, but this year we did it remotely. Bekah helps you to create the wreath you want and I wanted mine to be a reflection of my tablescape.
Wishing you all a happy, healthy and decoration-filled Christmas with your loved ones! If you'd like to discuss your next project to see what could be achieved, get in touch.
