Spring has finally sprung and we are finally entering the warmer seasons. Arguably my favourite season of them all as everything starts to come back to life and we dust off the cobwebs ready for outside-in living. As we say goodbye to the dark, Winter months for another year and we start to experience longer and warmer days, it’s time for the big Spring clean and to give your home a much needed refresh for the year.

I’ve pulled together my 10 favourite Spring decor ideas that will help bring some life back into your home after the long, closed-up Winter months.

1. Styling Refresh

A styling refresh can be so simple and only takes a few tweaks to lighten up the look of your home for the new season ahead. Make little styling tweaks to coffee and accent tables, shelves, mantel, and countertops using things you already have around the house.

You can read my top tips styling blog for more detail on how to style your home. Here are my top tips for just a quick style refresh:

  • Use stacks of books to raise objects off the surfaces occasionally
  • Combine items in groups of threes–preferably with varying height objects
  • Remember – less is more
  • Balance different tones and textures to create depth and interest
  • Don’t put all objects in one line, play with the spacing to give the shelf or table some depth
  • Change your tea towel on the sink, your table runner or throws for a quick win

2. Fresh Greens and Florals

Arguably the easiest home update for Spring is to bring the outside beauty inside. A beautiful bunch of seasonal blooms or a few sprigs of greenery in a vase – such as eucalyptus – can make your space feel fresh and bright. If you’re not into fresh florals or greens then why not pick up some faux flowers or plants? A great way to refresh your Spring decor, faux flowers and plants have come a long way and I’m often amazed as to how real they look! A potted olive tree – large or small – or a simple bunch of Hydrangea’s on top of the coffee table will finish your Spring interior off beautifully.

3. Update Bedding

Simple but affective! The Spring awakening, wake up to fresh, bright sheets that make you feel light and bright. Ditch the big blankets and dark colours and swap your sheets for linen or silk to wake up with vibrant skin. I love white bedding all year, but there is something about white bedding in Spring that makes the bedroom feel cheerful and bright. Change out your dress cushions for lighter, pastel colours – this also helps when the days get warmer and you need to help keep your home cooler.

4. Have a Move Around

Moving your furniture around is one of the easiest refreshes you can do to your home. It doesn’t have to be in the same room, you can beg, borrow and steal from other rooms in the house to create an entirely new look. It requires a bit of effort and some time planning but once you go for it, the results can be astounding!

5. Add a Pop of Colour

When I say “add a pop of colour” I don’t mean for you to go and add bright pink all over your house! If you’re scared of colour and are tempted by neutrals, you can’t ever go wrong if you stick to a colour palette that you would find in nature. Sky blues, bright greenery and cloud whites are a failsafe combination mixed with a neutral textured palette.

6. Cram on the Cushions

Anyone that knows me, knows I am a sucker for cushions. Soft furnishings are the easiest way to give your home a refresh so simply swapping your cushions for some Spring-coloured ones in your living room and bedrooms will instantly make the rooms feel fresh and bright for the new season. Having a stock of Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter cushions covers in the cupboard isn’t a bad idea and you can always create new combinations whenever you feel like something new.

7. Embrace the Sun

With the longer, brighter days racing towards us, embracing the sunlight in your home will instantly transform the vibe. Welcome the sunshine and replace your heavy, lined curtains with light neutral linens that help with the heat and bugs but still let the light stream into your spaces. Swap your fabric roman blinds for venetian blinds so you can have them down but open for practicality.

8. Get Creative

Swapping your artwork can be a really quick and creative way to give your spaces a refresh. You can get some great prints for great prices on website like Desenio and you simply swap your prints in your frames you already have. If you’re feeling really creative, why not try your hand at painting your own piece? You never know, you might have a hidden talent you didn’t know existed!

9. Bold Tablescapes

Move your home seamlessly into the Spring season by changing your table setting. It’s a really easy and simple way to make your home feel Spring-ready. You can easily transform your dining table – whether its in your kitchen or in its own room. Add or change your table runner for a pastel or outdoor shade, change up your place mats for textured woven or light-coloured cotton and add a beautiful vase of seasonal fresh florals to tie the table together!

10. Bring the Outside-In

Spring is all about bringing the outside-in, opening the doors and enjoying the warmer weather and longer days so don’t forget about the patio when doing your home refresh. Your patio should act as an extension of your home in the Spring/Summer months so ensure it is calm, relaxing and as beautiful as your home. Add a few cushions and decorative pieces that complement your home and an outdoor rug can complete the look. Ensure you have lots of throws handy for those cooler nights around the fire-pit and extra pouffes for additional seating.
