As with every transformation, I started with a blank canvas for this project. My client had a large living room in a new build home in Suffolk and needed help with making it feel warm and cosy – which isn’t easy! As I discuss the trend of dark walls in my blog “wonder walls”, my client knew they wanted to go with a dark navy on the walls, which I was confident would work well in making the room feel smaller and more inviting.

There were a number of items the client wanted to keep such as; a small side table, the ceiling lights and a shelving unit and of course, the TV on the wall. I set out to create a beautiful, cosy space that was all about relaxation. With a large home, this room is purely for adults and calm at the end of a busy working day.

Using a dark palette as the base foundation of this concept, I started exploring what tones would bring the colours to life and really accentuate the deep, rich tone of the navy blue.

Below is the original concept I presented to the clients:

My client loved the concept board so I mostly delivered the final installation to the concept board. I created a cosy living area to snuggle down and watch TV but I also introduced a “reading corner” to pull the space together.

The final concept comprised of deep, rich navy that was complimented beautiful with white and neutral tones. We also included a few hints of black throughout to compliment the clients existing furniture.

Here are some images of the room before we started. The clients had already removed the majority of their furniture when image one was taken. Image two shows the wallpaper that the client previously had hung. Image three was taken once the walls had been painted in navy.
